Position Description:

Performs activities related to verifying, drafting, and/or preparing legal documents.

Utilize computers to research, compile, and draft documents and reports from written and/or verbal instructions that may include but not be limited to:

Document productions

Discovery responses

Corporate service agent correspondence

Support factual investigation and related writing for purpose of providing support to attorneys.

Research and retrieve documents from various on line and printed legal sources for relevant judicial decisions, legal articles, and regulatory activities.

Assist with organization and maintenance of legal department document files and case files.

Assist in drafting legal documents as directed by attorneys. Perform document management and analysis activities.

Prepare correspondence and reports and perform other clerical duties as required.

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Preferred Associate's Degree

Experience in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, and contracts for use by legal staff.

Experience researching, reading, interpreting, editing, and/or extracting information from on line and printed law sources including judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, and governmental regulations.

Experience analyzing documents for attorney/client privilege and responding to discovery requests, subpoenas, and inquiries from governmental agencies.

Experience organizing and maintaining case and/or document files.

Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including computers, typewriters, photocopiers, and facsimile machines.

Experience with computer database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications including but not limited to:

Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

WestLaw

Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of decimals and percentages. (Tested)

Experience and/or training related to:

Legal terminology

Computerized legal research applications

Generally accepted standards for grammar and punctuation

Business organizations

Experience advising, assisting, and communicating effectively.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Preferred Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) certification

Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 3 5 times daily.

Able to operate office tools and equipment required.

Communicate and/or exchange verbal and written information or instructions.

Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties. #officeoperations
