One Gas Service Tech Meter Reading in Austin, Texas

Position Description:

Texas Gas Service will be hosting a Virtual Career Fair on June 2nd, 2020 and seeking qualified candidates for Service Tech Meter Reading positions. At this event you will have the opportunity to learn more about the position, ask questions, and potentially be invited for same day and next day interviews via video conferencing. All you need to attend this event is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and a front facing camera/mic. Upon the completion of your application, you will receive an email with an invitation and instructions on how to join us for the Virtual Career Fair. (Please allow a few days to receive the invitation)

Performs work related to meter reading.

Read gas meters; enter/record data utilizing hand held electronic meter reading equipment.

Update and/or maintain reports and records including but not limited to:

Stolen meter/gas

Customer account information

Route information

Service orders

Time sheets

Mileage reports

Recognize and report potentially hazardous situations.

Perform preventive maintenance on meters and vacant meter settings.

Installation, programming and troubleshooting electronic reader transmitters (ERTs).

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Knowledge of use and function of hand tools and office equipment applicable to position.

Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).

Demonstrated ability to recognize difference between pairs of numbers (tested).

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret maps, addresses, dials, gauges, and customer account information.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Applicable driver's license.

Carry objects weighing up to 5 pounds continuously each day; lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds 15 20 times a day; over 50 pounds 3 5 times a day.

Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:







Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.

Climb over and around barriers; move obstacles obstructing view.

React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.

Smell odorant in natural gas.

Able to operate tools and equipment required.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Communicate and/or exchange information and instructions.

Sufficient to perform job duties.
