One Gas Accountant - Transportation Services in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Position Description:

The Transportation Services department is a small dynamic team that manages a unique customer portfolio, producing 9% of the revenue and 67% of volume for ONG annually. The department supports more than 5,300 transportation customers and 35 third party suppliers each month. In addition, the department is responsible for executing the monthly billing/invoicing process, volume control pipeline management and balancing analysis, all facets of external customer service including collections, and setup/monitoring the billing of negotiated contract terms.

Performs intermediate level of billing and customer service activities related to specialized customers.

Communicate daily and provide guidance/information to transportation customers via telephone or email including, but not limited to:

  • Customer correspondence

  • Account inquiries - research

  • Customer collections - payments

  • Service orders

  • Meter read exception orders

  • Deposits – surety bonds/letters of credit

  • Account billing adjustments

  • Tax Exemptions

  • Establishing service for new customers

  • Tariff/Rate explanations

  • Prior period volumetric adjustments

Maintain electronic filing systems.

Assist employees, customers and gas suppliers as it relates to the requirements of transportation services or measurement disputes.

Review required documentation for accuracy and compliance with applicable contract provisions, regulations, policies and procedures.

Prepare, maintain, and/or process contracts, records and related documents.

Preserve confidential and/or sensitive information.

Analyze various types of discrepancies on customer accounts.

Collaborates with six or more other internal departments to meet customer needs.

Position Requirements:

Preferred skills:

5+ years or working experience in an office and team setting

Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry

Previous experience with customer service, billing and related processes and systems

Managing complexity / problem solving / critical thinking skills / collaborative / time management / self-motivated

Comfortable with technology and learning new software programs

Experience with Banner, QPTM, FlowMDS, and Microsoft Dynamics

Required Bachelor's Degree accounting, finance, or other related field with previous experience working in various accounting functions or equivalent combination of formal education and the following job-related experience.

Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and procedures.

Experience performing an intermediate level of accounting activities such as gas accounting and terminology.

Robust verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative approach, experience applying generally accepted standards for grammar and punctuation.

Strong focus on the accuracy of detailed information.

Comfortable managing complexity and ambiguity, making decisions when not all information is available.

Experience and/or training relative to:

  • Natural gas pipeline tariffs

  • Data Management Systems (Banner, Quorum, FlowMDS, Billgen, Perceptive, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)

  • Legal terminology

  • Interpersonal communications

Working knowledge relative to:

  • Rate & MDQ reviews

  • Negotiated Contracts

  • Tax exemptions

Demonstrated ability to apply mathematic and/or algebraic formulas used in various spreadsheet applications.

Experience researching, composing, reconciling, and preparing reports, invoices, studies, and correspondence applicable to position.

Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to interact with employees and customers and to communicate effectively.

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret legal descriptions and documents such as contracts, industry and governmental regulations, forms, manuals, publications, proposals, rate sheets, and correspondence.

Demonstrated ability to properly manage and retain documentation, including file management and scanning. #Officeoperations
