One Gas Benefits Manager in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Position Description:

Responsible for maintaining best in class programs including plan design, implementation, communication and administration related to ONE Gas health and welfare, retirement, and wellbeing benefits. Ensures benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies, all federal and state regulations and aligned with the Total Rewards vision to provide premier total rewards that foster an environment and culture of well-being for employees and their families, helping to build a healthy, safe and secure future.

Actively engage as a member of the Total Rewards Leadership Team.

Design, develop, implement, and manage the administration, compliance and communication of all ONE Gas employee benefits programs including but not limited to:

Pension, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing Plan

Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Health, dental, and vision care

Group and dependent life insurance

Accidental death and dismemberment

Premiums and deductions

Annual open enrollment


Oversee the resolution of internal and external issues related to benefit plans in an efficient and effective manner.

Ensure compliance with regulatory mandates and legislation (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, IRS, DOL, HHS and CMS). Partners with ERISA team.

Partner with Program Manager to monitor trends in employee benefit plans to ensure plans are competitive and comply with governmental laws and regulations. Recommend strategic changes in plan design to Total Rewards leadership, senior management, and the appropriate ONE Gas Benefits Committee(s).

Provide guidance and direction relative to employee benefit plans to outside vendors, internal leadership of all levels, employees, industry peers and other stakeholders.

Ensure positive vendor partner relationships while evaluating vendor performance throughout the year. Oversee work with vendors to optimize system capabilities for administrators and employees.

Partners with Project Manager and Corporate Communications to develop and execute all benefits communication related to non-bargaining unit and bargaining unit active and retired employees.

Oversee negotiation and activity related to benefit plans in bargaining unit contracts; including renewals.

In partnership with Program Manager, oversee external actuarial rating (premium setting) of benefit plans to ensure accuracy. Assess quarterly and annual health care trends and report to key stakeholders.

Prepare and conduct employee presentations as needed.

Lead, direct and/or manage staff members at lower levels.

Position Requirements:

Preferred Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or other related field and the following job-related experience:

Demonstrated knowledge and experience administering and interpreting employee benefit plans.

Proven experience with and advanced knowledge of governmental laws and regulations pertaining to employee benefit plans.

Experience with and/or training related to:

Employee benefit plans

Vendor Management

Internal communications

Governmental regulations

Human Resources Systems

Payroll Systems

Proven experience reading and interpreting policies, reports, governmental regulations, benefits information, industry publications, procedures and correspondence.

Demonstrated experience conducting research, analyzing and preparing information including employee benefit plans, benefit reports, surveys, policy recommendations, procedures and correspondence.

Proven experience interacting, directing, delegating and/or communicating effectively at all levels.

Demonstrated experience developing information and making presentations to groups and individuals.

Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position including using computer applications such as Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.

Application of math, algebra and basic statistics.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Applicable driver's license.

Preferred Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), Senior Professional Human Resources Certification (SPHR) or Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR).

Mobility to travel in and around office surroundings and to other work locations.

Able to communicate and/or exchange information in writing and verbally; conduct oral presentations.

Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
